From June 24 to 28, 2024, eight schools, including Fengcai Secondary School, Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Kwok Yat Wai College, and Pui Kiu Middle School, participated in an in-depth exploration tour to Tianjin and Chengde. The aim of this tour was to promote inter-school exchanges while allowing students to experience the historical culture and technological innovation of these two cities, deepening their understanding of northern China.
Day 1: Introduction to Tianjin's Culture
After arriving in Tianjin, the students first visited Tianjin Ancient Culture Street and enjoyed a traditional crosstalk performance. This area, rich in Tianjin's local handicrafts, showcased the historical and cultural significance of traditional art forms, giving students a taste of Tianjin's unique charm as a historic trading port.
Day 2: Technological and Academic Exchange
The students visited Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, where they learned about the facilities and educational programs related to Traditional Chinese Medicine. They also participated in a seminar on smart city development, discussing Tianjin's innovative strategies in technology and urban planning. In the afternoon, they toured Airbus Tianjin Final Assembly Company, where they witnessed advanced aerospace manufacturing technologies and engineering innovations. The day ended with a visit to the Haihe River Cruise, where students explored the historical and modern significance of the Haihe River.
Day 3: Transition from Tianjin to Chengde
Students visited the Dagu Fort Museum, rich in modern Chinese history, where they gained a deeper understanding of the region's military and historical significance through vivid explanations by guides. The tour continued with a visit to the Binhai Cultural Center.
Day 4: Deep Exploration of Chengde's Cultural Heritage
In Chengde, students explored the Mountain Resort and its surrounding imperial gardens, an epitome of Chinese garden art and a reflection of the Qing emperors' lifestyle and governance philosophy. They also visited the Eight Outer Temples, each with unique architectural styles and religious significance, deepening their understanding of China's religious and cultural diversity.
Day 5: Return and Reflection on the Future
The final day included a visit to Chengde Museum, where students explored the history and cultural essence of Chengde and the surrounding regions. The museum's exhibits provided a deeper understanding of the region's history, including historical documents and Qing Dynasty royal artifacts. The visit encouraged students to appreciate and preserve China's cultural heritage.
